My treat this morning. Now this is a popover. From https://g.co/kgs/m851xs Cottage Tearoom & Fare
Good morning. We are still waiting for news. Today we breathe patience. Lol
Good morning! Start your day with a song. Yesterday was a day filled with blessings. Some things came together and I met some incredibly beautiful souls who made my day marvelous. Happy Saturday.
Good morning! It’s been a long week. Getting healthcare for loved ones never used to be so hard. It is mind boggling and stressful navigating the system of memory care and medicine. The blessing in this is that the aides taking care of the memory care are wonderful but limited to what they can do because of rules and regulations. I will say this. I used to work in a care center before they outlawed even simple restraints and then when the law was enacted. Seeing what is happening now with those I care about I venture to believe there are more people getting hurt by not being able to use those simple restraints to keep people from falling out of bed, and from falling out of wheelchairs than were hurt because they got caught in bed rails. Pain medication is another problem because the people that really need the medication are not being prescribed it because of fear from the medical community of repercussions because of the drug problem today and the new restraints about prescribing it which leaves many elderly in pain. There has to be some common sense somewhere when making these decisions
Good morning! Thank you for all your prayers. Mark is having heavy back pain and more memory issues. Ongoing prayers are good. Yesterday was our grandson Jake Seedorf’s confirmation. Thanks to Matthew Seedorf for getting Mark there. We all had a good time and the service was beautiful.
Our cinco de Mayo meal today at Northfield Manor. It was delicious. So much food. One Taco already eaten. Lol
It’s been one year today that we moved. I will say it’s been a long year but during the ups and downs there were so many blessings. I can’t thank you all enough for all you have done for us this year. The kindnesses and help you gave us when we thought we just could not do it. I went back to Wells this week on a quick trip and God reminded me that our paths leave footprints on our hearts. It was a quickly planned trip so I didn’t stop for coffee or to see many I should have but I wasn’t sure how I would react to being there as I have missed it. I visited the building which houses my dads shoe store for many years, Country Roads Floral and Gifts and dropped off some books for lovely Nicole Rosberg to sell. Spotted some quilts I donated being used in the window of the thrift shop. Drove by one of my old houses that was not there anymore, but the breezeway and garage still are being used by old friends who I got to hug. I met the new Pastor of my church in Wells and even had to visit my car savior at KARL’S as I had a small car issue. I bet he thought he was rid of me and my old car when I moved. Ha! My point is that we leave pieces of us that linger long after we’re gone. I can now go back home and visit my friends next time and be content that I can enjoy my visits, but yet want to go back to my new home. My shower curtain says “You are right where you are meant to be.” I now feel that. Thank you for all the support.

The Test of Time

Joe wheeled up to the table each night in his motorized wheelchair. He always moved at a fast pace. I and the other residents sitting on the opposite side of the table would grab our dishes, because occasionally he cruised into the table sending things flying. Joe always smiled and chuckled when that happened, with […]

It’s All Relative!

I attended the funeral of my 106-year-old aunt this week. She was married to my mother’s brother and was my last living aunt. Though I know she was ready, it seemed for the three of us nieces and nephews at her funeral that it represented a passing of the last thread we had with our […]

Memories Are Made Of This

Most of my readers are aware of the huge downsizing I’ve had to go through this year. It wasn’t exactly my choice, though I’d been saying for years it had to happen. If you recall last March I struggled with packing up our four-bedroom home and reducing my stuff to a two-bedroom apartment. Then I […]

Bouncing Back

If you’ve followed my journey and the trials of living with someone withmemory loss, then you’ve known the struggles. It was probably obvious toeveryone but me […]

Don’t Be Mad

I have a soft heart. It may not seem that this brash, loud person is vulnerable. A friend whom I love, who is occasionally abrasive, but a tell -it-like -it-is person, keeps a part of herself hidden. She and I are alike in that we seem to be extroverts, but I found I’m really an […]
